No.1 tetraploid in many countries
Barenbrug proudly presents you a wonderful new variety: Barpasto. This late variety is officially recommended in many European countries and very often rated as the highest yielder (see table 1). In official trials in Germany it proved to be by far the best tetraploid perennial ryegrass, with a relative total yield of 105 and 108 for yield at 1st cut. Barpasto shows the improvements made by Barenbrug’s breeding program.
Excellent under difficult conditions
In official trials, Barpasto has shown to have an outstanding persistency. Main reason for this is its winterhardiness. Besides that, this variety gives a perfect sward density which support a long productive life. It has been specially recommended for difficult soils and conditions, in Germany rated as “M-variety”. Therefor Barpasto is the perfect choice for long-term grassland, under all conditions.
For both cutting- and grazing pastures
The tetraploid Barenbrug varieties are well-known for their excellent yield under cutting management, high disease resistance (Crown-rust) and palatability. The improvements in grass breeding the last decade however, has brought us better sward density and persistency under grazing. This means the new tetraploids, like Barpasto, are at least as good as diploid suitable for grazing pastures.
