Tetraploid for continental climates
Barantov is a tetraploid continental variety which is listed in Romania. This variety comes from Romania out of the breeding station in Brasov.
The breeding station in Romania has several trial locations where summer drought is very common. That means that the varieties who are produced by this breeding station can handle longer periods of drought very well.
The summers can be hot but the winters can be cold. Barantov performs well in both situations. This variety is really good in areas with temperature difference.
