Excellent performer in continental regions

Bardine was developed after extensive trials in continental regions like Poland, Romania and Russia. This is the background why the variety has an excellent adaptation to harsh conditions with dry summers and cold winters. Its yield and persistency is a clear improvement to the common varieties in the market, as can be seen from the table below.

Plant characteristics ensure maximal feed quality

Plants from Bardine can be characterized by having a large amount of extremely large leaves, which are very well attached to the stems and pseudo-stems. In practice, this gives a higher leave-to-stem ratio which results in more protein. During the hydration process after cutting its leaves don’t fall off easily, resulting into more leaf material ending up in the silage. That’s why Bardine shows a better feed quality (Source: CTPS, France, 2014).

A healthy crop

Like all new genetics from Barenbrug’s lucerne breeding program, this variety has an outstanding resistance to diseases (like Verticilium) and pests (nematodes). Besides that, Bardine has shown very good winterhardiness and standability. This will give a healthy crop which is easy to manage and won’t disappoint the farmers.

Guaranteed top yields with Yellow Jacket Rhizobium coating

Yellow Jacket Rhizobium coating is Barenbrug’s enhanced seed coating for lucerne. Using new technology, high levels of effective Rhizobia are embedded in a protective polymer matrix. Together with a nutrient booster containing all essential minerals and trace elements, this product is designed to improve establishment and increase forage production.

Reasons to use Yellow jacket:

•Improved establishment under difficult conditions.

•Better use of available water and soil moisture.

•Increased disease resistance.

•Improved nitrogen fixation.

•Increased forage and protein yield.

Lucerne

Lucerne (or alfalfa) is a deep rooting crop, highly suitable for cultivation in dry areas. Livestock farmers mainly use lucerne for high protein hay and silage production or for direct feeding to cattle. Another application is processing of artificially dehydrated lucerne.
