The perfect grass for mulching

Mulching grass is not always possible! If the grass is wet or too high, you cannot mulch your lawn. If the grass is wet, it will clump together, making it difficult to shred. If the grass is too high, the soil will be covered with an excessive amount of mulch, causing the grass to suffocate and/or grass mould to affect the sward. The mulch can also create a water-repellent layer, so that water can no longer reach the grass roots. Plants may die as a result. You will then have to collect and dispose of your grass cuttings. The choice of grass seed is crucial to the success or failure of circular lawn management. By choosing the right grass seed mixture, you will avoid such problems!

Mow Saver perfect for mulching

Mow Saver^® grass establishes quickly, has a low growing point and a low biomass production. As a result, the grass clippings are smaller, which makes them perfect for mulching. In addition, mowing is required less frequently. Mow Saver^® is ideally suited for mulching.

Practical trails in which clippings are collected and weighed demonstrate that Mow Saver^® produces up to 40% less biomass compared with other, similar varieties. The lower the volume of clippings left on the sward, the sooner this mass is decomposed by microorganisms and the healthier the grass will be. In addition, you will never cover your soil with too much mulch, which suffocates the soil. Moreover, shredding the grass is more effective because Mow Saver^® results in less leaf mass.

The low growth point of Mow Saver^® grass plants has the advantage that the plants are less affected by mowing and recover faster. Moss and weeds are less likely to settle in the sward!

Difference in tillering with higher-growing & low-growing grass

Mow off a maximum of 1/3 of the grass plant. If you mow below the growth point of the grass plant, the grass plant will collapse. Mow Saver^® plants stay shorter and have a low growing point. This minimizes the risk on collapsing after mowing too late.
