Horse Master

Plenty of grass for grazing

An attractive green pasture with dense turf is important for daily grazing. It gives your horse a plentiful supply of grass and avoids health problems or the injuries that might otherwise occur during a sprint in a bare pasture.  We developed Horse Master® with RPR to meet these requirements.  You can let your horse enjoy the grazing season without worries in a Horse Master® pasture.

Highly resistant turf with RPR technology

With the unique RPR technology, Horse Master® grass can withstand extreme loads. RPR creates a natural network of horizontal stolons, which form a kind of ‘reinforcing mesh’ for your turf. Instead of a sward of individual grass plants, such as traditional perennial ryegrass, RPR grass plants are all linked to each other and the soil. With the RPR technology, the grass is also self-regenerating.  Horse Master® grass is not trampled easily and can easily withstand a horse galloping through the meadow.

Good regrowth

Horses graze grass right down close to the roots. The growing points of the grasses in Horse Master® are lower than in normal types of grass, so they recover quickly after grazing. This prevents bare patches forming in the meadow where weeds could establish themselves.

Lower risk of sand colic

Of course you want your horse to graze safely, so watch out for any bare patches in your pasture. If your horse grazes in a meadow with many bare patches, it is at higher risk of sand colic.  The highly resilient sod combined with the rapid regrowth of Horse Master® prevents this happening.

The best grass for your horse

The flavour and quality of a horse pasture is determined by the grasses that grow there.  Horse Master® is a blend of delicious, high-quality grasses such as perennial ryegrass, timothy, smooth-stalked meadow grass and creeping red fescue. Weed grasses, such as rough-stalked meadow grass, annual meadow grass and couch grass, tend to grow everywhere and have a negative impact on the quality and taste of the meadow.  The dense sward of Horse Master® prevents these unwanted grasses and weeds from taking hold.

Lower risk of laminitis due to low fructan content

Grasses produce fructan in spring due to the many hours of sunshine in combination with cold nights. Fructan is a carbohydrate (a type of sugar) that is difficult for a horse’s digestive system to process. If a horse ingests too much fructan, it is at increased risk of laminitis. The varieties in Horse Master® were selected for their low fructan content.

Enrich your Horse Master® pasture with herbs

You can also enrich your Horse Master® pasture with herbs. The herbal mixture is a good way of providing extra flavour and having a positive influence on Tasty Herbs your horse’s health. The deep rooting of the herbs also improves the drought resistance of your horse pasture.

Also suitable for sheep, donkeys and alpacas

Horse Master® is also suitable for those who keep sheep, donkeys or alpacas as a hobby.

Most grass seed mixtures are traditionally intended for use by cattle. However, cows’ requirements with respect to grass are quite different from those of horses. Horse Master® is an innovative grass seed mixture yielding roughage that is ideal for horses’ rations.
