The grounds staff of the Rotterdam football club were presented with the award by the Chairman of VVCS (Dutch Union of professional football players), Danny Hesp. Barenbrug is also delighted with this award. For a number of years, Feyenoord has used RPR grass seed from Barenbrug. Account Manager Jan van den Boom: “We are very proud that Feyenoord’s field managers have accomplished this, using our innovative grass.”

 

RPR extremely strong

To congratulate the field managers, Van den Boom presented them with a cake. Erwin Beltman (head field manager at stadium De Kuip) praised the performance of RPR. Beltman especially commended the fast establishment of the grass seed, its strong competitive ability and its very high wear tolerance. During the radio show ‘Evers staat op’ on Radio 538, the head field manager emphasised his findings again and referred to the RPR grass seed mixture as ‘extremely strong’: “We use it for overseeding throughout the year.”

 

Highest wear tolerance
RPR is a regenerating perennial ryegrass, which forms runners that create a natural network of horizontal stolons. This provides reinforcement within the sod, and allows RPR to deliver the highest level of wear tolerance. Instead of separate grass plants, such as traditional perennial ryegrass, each RPR grass plant is connected to other plants and to the soil, allowing heavy traffic.
