Characteristics of the cultivar
007 has a broad genetic base developed using twenty four parent plants, including plants identified from the well-known variety L-93. This new improved variety is well adapted to any area where creeping bentgrass is being utilized for golf course greens, tees and fairways. 007 adapts well for very low mowing on greens as well as for reduced fungicide management. 007 is considered as a further improvement of L-93. Enhanced Dollar Spot resistance and superior turf quality make this variety the perfect choice for all levels of golf course projects. All individual parental clones of creeping bentgrass used in the development of 007 were selected for improved Dollar Spot resistance, bright dark green leaf colour, excellent winter colour with no purpling and a vigorous, uniform moderately dense growth habit.
Sowing and maintenance
007 is recommended to be used in pure stands and creeping bentgrass blends. For new courses 007 should be seeded at 5 - 7 gr/m2. For overseeding a sowing rate of 2 - 5 gr/m2 should be applied.
007 requires frequent mowing and should be mowed at a low height. Recommended mowing heights are:
Greens 2.5 - 6 mm
Tees 6 - 10 mm
Fairways 10 - 12 mm
After seeding and establishing 007 prefers deep watering early in the morning.
