Barcrown has already been the best slender creeping red fescue for decades. The variety has an excellent shoot density, outstanding red thread resistance and a close mowing tolerance down to 5 mm (4 mm in summer!). This makes Barcrown a very good choice for the overseeding of tees, fairways and greens! The variety maintains a healthy colour, even when temperatures are low. Additional great characteristic is its high tolerance to salt which allows Barcrown to be used in areas with saline irrigation water.

Partner varieties in mixtures
Barcrown has been extensively tested in private trials at STRI UK, Bioforsk in Norway and Hohenheim University in Germany and during several small trials in other countries like Denmark, Switzerland and Poland. All trials showed the significant ornamental value of Barcrown and its great performance on golf greens, home lawns and landscaping areas.
Best combinations were found with Festuca rubra spps. such as Barcrown, Bargreen II and Barswing. Other combinations are with Agrostis capillaris Barking and Heriot for greens or with dwarf perennial rye grasses as Bargold, Barlady and Barsignum for fairways, tees or lawns.
