In terms of performance Barlexas II is Barenbrug’s best tall fescue for north-western and central Europe. Due to its light-green colour, Barlexas II blends very well with other lighter species or varieties and, more importantly, it hides the eternally annoying Poa annua very well! Barlexas II outperforms other varieties in terms of homogeneity of sward, high ornamental value and high wear and drought tolerance. Moreover Barlexas II maintains its colour in summer despite heat and drought and is not susceptible to leaf spot or brown patch. Barlexas II also has a wide germination temperature range. This means the variety is able to germinate at both high and low temperatures.
Barlexas II is a versatile Festuca arundinacea variety suitable for:
- Ornamental lawns
- General landscaping
- Turf production
- golf courses: fairways and tees
- football and rugby pitches
Colour and leaf texture
Dark-green coloured medium broad-leaved tall fescue variety.
Partner varieties in mixtures
Barlexas II has been extensively tested in private trials at Barenbrug Research in the Netherlands, France and Italy. For landscape, fairway and tee applications, Barlexas II mixes well with Poa pratensis and Lolium perenne species, and in warm dry areas preferably with drought-tolerant varieties such as Barimpala and Barlennium. More continental areas are best covered with partners such as Bariris and Barminton or Barfriso.
