Description

Barnoustie brings creeping red fescues to a new level. With its exceptional shoot density it offers the best playing quality for golf greens. It can be mowed down to 4 mm. This makes Barnoustie the best choice for overseeding greens, tees and fairways. This variety maintains a healthy colour, even when temperatures are low. Additional great characteristic is its high tolerance to red thread to be used in areas with low input of fertilizer.

Slender creeping red fescue is a high ornamental specie as well. It is as fine and dense as chewings fescue, but it outperforms chewing fescue due to an excellent disease resistance. Slender creeping fescues also exhibit good summer and autumn colour and it has better salt tolerance than chewings fescue.

The main difference with chewings fescue is the occurrence of rhizomes which gives the slender creeping fescue a better wear tolerance. Also here, mowing levels below 5 mm in summer are possible, but only if you use the genetics from Barenbrug. Slender creeping red fescue does not require high inputs of water, nitrogen and pesticides and they are more tolerant to salt than chewings fescues. This specie does produce thatch.
