Declaration is bred by Rutgers University and Lebanon Seaboard (USA).

Characteristics of the cultivar
Declaration is a dense, low thatch producing, very dollar spot tolerant cultivar. It exhibits a high turf quality on golf greens, tees and fairways. The leaf texture is fairly fine, upright and retains colour throughout fall and winter. Apart from dollar spot Declaration also shows high tolerance to red thread and brown patch.


Sowing and maintenance
Seeding rates:
Declaration is recommended to be used in pure stands and creeping bentgrass blends. For new courses Declaration should be seeded at 5 - 7 gr/m2. For overseeding a sowing rate of 2 - 5 gr/m2 should be applied.

 

Recommended mowing heights are:
Greens      2.5 - 6     mm
Tees     6 - 10     mm
Fairways     10 - 12     mm

 

Watering
After seeding and establishing Declaration prefers deep watering early in the morning.

Creeping bentgrass forms stolons which gives the specie an aggressive growth. It has a high susceptibility to turf diseases and it is in need of an intensive maintenance program to keep the turf quality on an acceptable level.
